Mr. Lyons,
Just wanted to thank you very much for
writing your wonderful history of the Can-Am. I've had it for
years and probably read the whole thing through at least 10
times and it still never gets old. Unfortunately I was born too
late, so I didn't get to be there when it happened, but
whenever I snap open your book I feel like I am there. You
struck a great balance between packing it full of trivia that I
love and capturing the experience which I crave.
Modern racing, as much as I still love it
for the high technology and the spectacle, always leaves me
feeling hollow. I find it ironic that all of these regulations
are foisted on us in the name of more equal and/or inexpensive
competition, when really all they do is ensure that the only
way to win is to spend the most money (test the most, have the
most spare parts, spend the most money shaving your parts down
to within an inch of the rules).
Well, before I get too terribly
long-winded and waste too much of your time on a sappy piece of
fan mail, I'll cut things short with one final, and very
heartfelt, thank you.
