Winging over the dunes, Jim Hall and his Chaparral 2G crest the climbing last turn at the old Bridgehampton road course on New York state's Long Island during practice for the 1968 Can-Am. Built on a 2E chassis first raced in 1966 with a small block, the 2G had a Big Block Chevy engine and, this year, super-wide tires. It was at this race that Hall was able to pass both factory McLarens and lead five glorious laps.
