MOTORSPORTS MEMORIES IN PICTURES AND WORDS

‘STACKS’ is our name for this in-period shot of Can-Am power. Captured at 1972’s Watkins Glen race, the last won by the long-dominant McLaren works team, it depicts the ‘staggered’ intake trumpets of Chevrolet’s mighty Big Block V8 glowing atop a McLaren M20. The enduring image of the grand old ‘unlimited’ Canadian-American Challenge Cup Series.

Hi, I’m Pete. Racerholic. For many, many years I wandered the raucous raceways of the world, enchanted by the sights, the sounds and the superstars of motorsports of many kinds. Can-Am, Formula 1, Sports Cars, Indycars, F5000, Trans-Am, Stocks, Drags, Rally, Off-Road, Bikes, Planes … I covered them all with pen and camera and undimmed enthusiasm.

Come on in and see some of what I saw. Maybe you did too, or wish you had. Here are some of my favorite images of the tens of thousands created over the decades by myself and my late father, Ozzie Lyons.
